Architectural photography for the Ohana East. This was a very cool, multi day project photographing all of the room categories for this iconic Waikiki hotel. The challenge for this assignment was that the property sits 2 blocks from the ocean. All rooms are city view, or a very distant ocean view. Even the pool is enclosed on all four sides by buildings.
Our solution was to photograph in lighter tones and to style the rooms with bright, color coordinated props to give the photos more interest. The turquoise towels and blue garments pop from the cream and ivory interiors, and make a very nice contrast. I’m very pleased with the way the rooms turned out. However, the photos I enjoyed most were shot pre-dawn and at dusk. I love the colors created by the mix of streetlight and soft sunlight.
